Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s Adviser on Policy and Strategy Affairs, Zahed Ur Rahman, returned to Dhaka after being stopped for more than two hours at New Delhi’s IGI Airport. Although Indian immigration authorities later cleared his entry, the Bangladeshi official decided not to continue his visit and flew back via Colombo. He had travelled to India to attend an Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) meeting. Following the incident, Dhaka summoned India’s Deputy High Commissioner and expressed its “deep disappointment”, calling the episode unexpected and unfortunate. Indian authorities have not yet publicly commented on the matter. (PC: India Today)
