The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has announced that it will open its first overseas campus in the United States. The new campus will be set up in partnership with the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook. It is expected to begin academic activities in 2027, subject to approvals. The campus will offer postgraduate programmes and focus on research, innovation and entrepreneurship. IIT Bombay Director Professor Shireesh Kedare said the move is "a major milestone" for the institute. He said the partnership aims to expand global academic cooperation and create more opportunities for students, researchers and faculty members in both countries. (PC: The Indian Express)
