Several strong earthquakes struck Venezuela, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Japan and Northern California within four days, raising questions about a possible link. Venezuela was hit hardest, with more than 1,400 deaths and thousands still missing. Pakistan and Afghanistan also experienced strong tremors, causing damage and injuries. Experts said the earthquakes are not connected. They happened on different tectonic plate boundaries in different parts of the world. Scientists explained that earthquakes occur when stress builds up between moving tectonic plates. While large earthquakes can sometimes trigger smaller tremors, experts said these recent events were independent and their close timing was only a coincidence. (PC: Reuters)
