Heavy rainfall has triggered flash floods across Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, affecting more than 22,000 people and causing widespread damage to homes, roads and farmland. Assam's Dhemaji district is the worst hit, while floodwaters have submerged 96 villages and damaged nearly 1,690 hectares of crops. A section of a railway bridge built in 1965 collapsed in Dhemaji, forcing the suspension of train services, though no injuries were reported.
