6 people died after part of a ground-plus-three-storey chawl collapsed in Mumbai's Mankhurd area on Sunday night during heavy rainfall. The incident happened around 8.30 pm at Chawl No. 5 in Janta Nagar, behind Hanuman Mandir. According to officials, two to three tenements gave way, and more people are feared trapped under the debris. Rescue teams from the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, BMC and ambulance services are searching the site. "Rescue operations are continuing," officials said. The IMD has issued a red alert for Mumbai, while the Maharashtra government has declared a holiday for schools and colleges on Monday. (PC: HT)
