Microsoft will cut around 4,800 jobs, nearly two per cent of its global workforce, as part of a major restructuring plan. The biggest impact will be on the Xbox gaming division, which is undergoing its largest overhaul. The company said the job cuts will take place during the current fiscal year. Microsoft is also increasing investment in artificial intelligence and plans to spend $190 billion on capital projects in 2026. Rising AI costs and weaker Xbox profits have added pressure on the business. The company said the restructuring aims to improve efficiency and support long-term growth across its operations.
