The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that Europe could face "more deadly weeks" as another severe heatwave develops. Temperatures in parts of Portugal and southern Spain are expected to reach 43°C. WHO Regional Director Hans Kluge urged countries to improve heat-health action plans to protect people. He said fewer than half of European countries have such plans. The recent June heatwave caused thousands of deaths and put pressure on hospitals and power systems.
