US President Donald Trump said he has ordered Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to halt all trade with Spain, accusing Madrid of being a “terrible partner” in NATO. Speaking during the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump criticised Spain over its defence spending and its refusal to support US military operations related to Iran. Spain dismissed the remarks, saying relations with Washington remain strong and noting that trade policy is handled collectively by the European Union.
