An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 struck the Maldives on Saturday evening, according to India's National Center for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake's location was reported to be 896 kilometers west of Male. The NCS shared the details, stating, "Earthquake of Magnitude:5.4, Occurred on 06-01-2024, 17:16:34 IST, Lat: 3.06 & Long: 65.51, Depth: 10 Km, Location: 896km W of Male." Further details are awaited. Last year, on Dec 29, the region experienced four earthquakes along the Carlsberg Ridge in the Indian Ocean, near the Maldives.
