Sonam Wangchuk's wife, Gitanjali Angmo, has approached the Delhi High Court seeking permission to shift the activist from Safdarjung Hospital to a private facility, claiming she has "lost faith" in the government-run hospital. She alleged Wangchuk's stay amounts to "illegal detention" and raised concerns over transparency in his medical treatment after his health reportedly worsened during his hunger strike. Government sources said Wangchuk was admitted following a court order and argued that premier hospitals like Safdarjung and AIIMS can provide the highest standard of care.
