The Delhi High Court on Saturday upheld the government's decision to shift climate activist Sonam Wangchuk to Safdarjung Hospital, saying the move was not arbitrary as his health had worsened after a 17-day hunger strike. The court observed that Wangchuk had not voluntarily checked into a hospital and said the government was justified in moving him for medical care. It also ruled that Wangchuk is not under detention and that doctors have treated him only with his consent. The court sought status reports from the authorities within 3 days and will hear the matter again on Thursday. (PC: India Today)
