The Delhi High Court on Sunday refused to immediately allow climate activist Sonam Wangchuk's transfer from Safdarjung Hospital to a private medical facility, saying no interim relief was required at this stage. Hearing a plea filed by his wife, Gitanjali Angmo, the court observed that Wangchuk was not under detention and that the government's decision to hospitalise him after his prolonged hunger strike was not arbitrary. It directed the Centre, Delhi Police and hospital authorities to submit a status report within 3 days. The next hearing is scheduled for July 24, while Wangchuk continues to receive treatment at Safdarjung Hospital. (PC: HT)
