Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won her third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal in the women's 48kg event. She lifted a total of 190kg, setting new Commonwealth and Commonwealth Games records. "I haven't eaten in 2 days," Mirabai told reporters after the event, explaining she had to maintain her weight. The 31-year-old also became emotional while thanking her mother and coach Vijay Sharma for their support. Despite missing her first attempts in both the snatch and clean and jerk, she recovered strongly to win gold. It was India's first gold medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
