Senior FIFA advisor Carlos Cordeiro resigned on Friday in protest against FIFA President Gianni Infantino's plan to sell a minority stake in the FIFA World Cup and other competitions to private investors. Cordeiro called the proposal "a bad deal" for football and urged other FIFA officials to oppose it. He said FIFA already has strong finances and does not need outside investment. The former US Soccer Federation president resigned with immediate effect after serving FIFA for more than five years.
