India scripted history in the Commonwealth Games 2026 as Havildar Soman Rana clinched gold and Shubham Juyal secured silver in the debut men's shot put F57 event. Soman produced a season-best throw of 13.40m, while Shubham followed with 13.28m, taking India's medal tally to 30. A two-time Paralympian and Indian Army para athlete, Soman lost his right leg below the knee in a 2006 mine blast while serving with the 2/8 Gorkha Rifles on the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. During rehabilitation at Pune's Artificial Limb Centre, he discovered para sports, later joining the Army Paralympic Node in 2017 and emerging as a world-class athlete. (PC: Getty Images)
