Pakistan has deployed 250 Chinese-made SH-15 truck-mounted self-propelled howitzers along its border with India, significantly strengthening its artillery capabilities, according to top intelligence sources. The Pakistan Army is reportedly positioning the 155mm/52-calibre systems across key sectors along the eastern frontier from north to south. The SH-15 can fire standard NATO-compatible ammunition to ranges of 30-40 km, while extended-range and precision-guided munitions can reportedly strike targets up to 72 km away. The deployment is described as one of Pakistan's biggest artillery reinforcements in recent years and comes as Islamabad continues military modernisation efforts following India's Operation Sindoor, the May 2025 tri-services counterterrorism operation targeting terrorist infrastructure.
