India officially received the hosting rights for the 2030 Commonwealth Games as the Games flag was handed over to Ahmedabad during the closing ceremony in Glasgow. Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha and Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi represented India at the ceremony. The event opened with a cultural performance based on the theme "The World is One Family: Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam." Ahmedabad will host the Commonwealth Games in 2030, 20 years after Delhi staged the event in 2010. The Games are also seen as a major step in India's preparations for a future Olympic bid.
