India is working towards establishing its own space station, the Bharatiya Antariksha Station, by 2035, ISRO Chairman V Narayanan said on Sunday. Speaking during National Space Day celebrations in Ahmedabad, Narayanan said the first module of the proposed space station has already received approval. He also highlighted upcoming programmes, including the Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission. Narayanan said India's space programme has expanded significantly over the past 64 years, with space-based technology now supporting citizens in more than 50 areas, including communication, navigation, disaster management, remote sensing, education and Earth observation.
