New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has said he does not support an upcoming RSS event at Madison Square Garden, where RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is scheduled to address members of the Indian diaspora on August 29. Mamdani, however, said he was unsure whether the city had the authority to cancel what he described as a private event. He said he opposed what he called an “exclusionary vision” of India and expressed support for a pluralistic and secular society. The event, part of the RSS’s centenary-year global outreach programme, is expected to draw around 5,000 people. (PC: X)
