China has warned Nepal of a possible fresh flood within three days after a barrier lake formed near the Nepal-Tibet border. The lake, created by a blockage near the confluence of the Chhochen Khola and Purepu Tsangpo rivers, already contains around 2 million cubic metres of water. Chinese authorities estimate another 3 million cubic metres could flow into it over the next three days, increasing the risk of a breach. Nepal’s authorities have urged residents along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers to remain alert and take precautionary measures. The warning comes as rescue operations continue after devastating floods killed hundreds and left many missing. (PC: Reuters)
