CCTV footage showing a black Mahindra Thar near a forest in Odisha’s Balasore district has drawn investigators’ attention after five orangutans were rescued from the area. The vehicle was reportedly seen passing through at around 11:25 pm and returning about 15 minutes later, a day before the critically endangered apes were found. A four-member Special Task Force is investigating how the orangutans, which are not native to India, reached the forest. The animals have been shifted to Nandankanan Zoo in Bhubaneswar and placed in quarantine. Authorities are also checking airport, railway and port CCTV footage for possible clues. (PC: NDTV)
