Several Iranian women participated in Friday’s 10-kilometre Tehran 10K road race without wearing headscarves, despite Iran’s continuing compulsory hijab rules. The women’s race was held at Velayat Park, with participants completing two laps of the course. The event came after authorities had previously taken action against organisers of a similar women’s race on Kish Island. Compulsory hijab remains part of Iranian law, although enforcement has varied in recent years. Iranian national record holder Parisa Arab won the women’s race and later shared footage from the event.
