The United States and China have discussed setting up a "notification mechanism" for artificial intelligence incidents that could affect national security, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Sunday. He made the remarks after what he called "successful" talks in New York with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng. The meeting comes days before President Donald Trump and Xi Jinping are due to hold a summit in Washington. Bessent said greater transparency between the world's top two AI powers is important.
