India defeated Iran 40-34 in the men’s kabaddi final at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya on Saturday to win their ninth gold medal in the event. Captain Sunil Kumar’s team recovered from an 18-17 half-time deficit to secure victory through stronger defence and improved attacking play. The win also helped India complete a golden double, as the women’s team had earlier beaten Iran 37-34 to claim gold. India have now successfully defended their men’s kabaddi title, having won gold at the 2022 Hangzhou Games.
