US President Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s proposal for a seven-day ceasefire, according to a Wall Street Journal report cited by ANI. The proposal, presented by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, seeks to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and restart negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme. Tehran has offered to restore normal maritime passage within seven days if Washington accepts conditions including lifting its naval blockade, easing oil sanctions and observing a wider ceasefire. The report, citing US officials, says Trump has told aides he expects US bombing of Iran to resume after November’s midterm elections. Trump has also threatened further military action if no agreement is reached. (PC: Reuters)
