The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced plans to begin a nationwide agitation from Mumbai on October 2 after its deadline for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation ended. The group is opposing the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and has sought Kumar’s resignation. The protest venue has not been finalised, although Azad Maidan is being considered, subject to police permission. Opposition parties have indicated separate protest plans rather than formally joining the CJP agitation.
