Indian boxer Parveen Hooda has assured India of a medal at the 2026 Asian Games after defeating Uzbekistan’s Navbakhor Khamidova 5-0 in the women’s 65kg quarterfinal on Sunday. The 26-year-old dominated the bout to enter the semifinals. Khamidova had won silver at the 2025 World Championships. Parveen’s achievement marks a significant return after a 22-month ban for three whereabouts failures cost her the bronze medal she won at the 2022 Asian Games and ruled her out of the Paris Olympics. She returned to international boxing in 2025, winning gold at the World Boxing Cup Finals. (PC: India Today)
