The Indian stock market witnessed a sharp fall on Monday, September 28, as the Sensex dropped over 900 points within an hour of opening. The Nifty 50 also slipped below the 23,000 mark. The sell-off wiped out nearly Rs 4.9 lakh crore in market value by around 10:15 am. Rising crude oil prices above $100 per barrel, higher US bond yields and continued foreign investor selling added to market pressure. Both benchmark indices had already recorded seven consecutive weekly declines, reflecting continued weakness in Indian equities. (PC: NDTV)
