Elon Musk has questioned why Starlink has not begun commercial operations in India despite spending five years complying with Indian laws. He alleged that powerful business interests were obstructing its entry to protect their market dominance, indirectly referring to Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani. The Union government rejected the allegations, describing India’s satellite communication approval framework as fair and non-discriminatory. Starlink, Reliance Jio’s satellite venture and Bharti-backed Eutelsat OneWeb have received licences but are awaiting security clearances and other regulatory approvals. The delay continues to postpone Starlink’s planned satellite internet services in India. (PC: X)
