Delhi Metro Revises Closure Plan After Supreme Court Intervention; 45 Stations Face Entry, Exit Restrictions

Brief by Shorts91 Newsdesk / 06:23pm on 09 Oct 2026,Friday India

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reduced the number of stations facing entry and exit restrictions ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) October 10 protest from 57 to 45. The revised restrictions took effect at 9 pm on October 9 and will remain in place until 6 pm on October 10, citing security concerns. DMRC said security agencies would review the situation and further updates would follow. Interchange facilities will remain available at all affected stations except New Delhi Metro station. The revision follows Supreme Court concerns that sweeping transport restrictions could inconvenience commuters. The court directed authorities to maintain regulated Metro and railway operations rather than impose a complete shutdown. (PC: News18)
