US President Donald Trump on October 10 called for Ukraine to elect a new president, criticising Volodymyr Zelensky for failing to secure a peace agreement with Russia. Trump also warned Kyiv against attacking Russian oil refineries, arguing that such strikes could worsen global diesel supplies and fuel prices. His remarks followed a proposed deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin for substantial diesel shipments to the US and international markets. Zelensky condemned the arrangement, accusing Washington of easing pressure on Moscow. He also linked deadly Russian strikes on Zaporizhzhia to the decision, intensifying tensions between Washington and Kyiv.
