Police detained several protesters during a fresh demonstration against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Delhi’s Connaught Place on Sunday evening. The protest came amid continuing demonstrations by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) over alleged “vote theft”. Earlier, the Supreme Court directed authorities to review barricading across Delhi and said unarmed protesters could not be detained except under the procedure established by law. It also ordered normal metro and rail services, uninterrupted internet and restored freedom of movement. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke and co-convenors Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were released after nearly 24 hours in detention. (PC: India Today)
