‘Out of Sight, Out of Mind’: Opposition Slams Delhi Police for Removing Jantar Mantar From Protest Map

The Delhi Police’s decision to remove Jantar Mantar as a designated protest site has triggered criticism from opposition leaders and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), who allege the move could push demonstrations away from the seat of power.   The authorities have proposed Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground and CBD Ground as alternative venues. However, opposition leaders argue that these locations are farther from Parliament and may reduce protests’ visibility.   Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of trying to shield itself from public anger. Delhi Police said frequent demonstrations at Jantar Mantar disrupt traffic and affect local businesses. (PC: India Today)
