The poorest 10% of people in some wealthy countries have higher daily income or consumption levels than India’s richest 10%, according to the World Bank’s 2026 Poverty and Inequality Platform.   The data puts India’s poorest 10% at around $3 per person daily, compared with $25 in the US, $31 in Canada and $28 in Germany and Australia. India’s richest 10% have a threshold of about $10 daily.   Experts say India must raise incomes and productivity across the population. Reforms supporting businesses, innovation, job creation and higher wages could help improve living standards and drive long-term economic growth. (PC: NDTV)
