Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to officially declare an Emergency, criticising the government’s handling of protests in Delhi. His remarks followed the detention of CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka for attempting to protest at Jantar Mantar while displaying the national flag. Dipke condemned their detention and questioned restrictions imposed on demonstrations demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation. The CJP has also opposed the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The controversy has intensified criticism over protest restrictions, civil liberties and the government’s response to dissent. (PC: The Indian Express)
