India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said disturbances along the India-China border occur periodically when Chinese forces deviate from established patrolling patterns. Responding on Friday, October 23, 2026, to a question about Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor’s remarks, the ministry reiterated that maintaining peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is essential for the overall development of bilateral relations. Kapoor had discussed the capabilities of the ITBP’s newly raised Shaurya commando unit during face-offs with Chinese People’s Liberation Army troops at multiple locations in Arunachal Pradesh. The MEA said both countries continue diplomatic and military engagement to resolve outstanding issues and prevent border misunderstandings.
