Billionaire Elon Musk has mocked his own election spending after Democratic candidates secured major victories in the 2026 US midterm elections. Taking to X on Wednesday, Musk wrote, “Guess my election-interfering space lasers didn’t work this time.” He also joked that “data centers in space” were looking appealing. Musk reportedly contributed around $250 million to support Republican candidates during the election cycle. However, Republicans suffered major defeats, including in Texas, where Democrat James Talarico defeated Republican Ken Paxton in the Senate race.
