Former Calcutta High Court judge Biswajit Basu resigned from West Bengal's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) appellate tribunal on Saturday, becoming the fourth retired judge to step down. He cited personal reasons in his resignation letter submitted to Calcutta High Court Chief Justice Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge. His resignation follows the exits of former Chief Justice T.S. Sivagnanam and retired judges Ranjit Kumar Bagh and Indrajit Chatterjee. The tribunals were formed following a Supreme Court order to hear appeals from voters affected by deletions during the electoral roll revision. The departures have raised concerns over the tribunal's workload and pending voter appeals. (PC: HT)
