At just eight years, Ashwath Kaushik from Singapore created history, becoming the youngest to defeat a chess grandmaster during the Burgdorfer Stadthaus Open in Switzerland. Surpassing the previous record set last month, Ashwath achieved the milestone at 8 years, 6 months, and 11 days, outshining opponent Jacek Stopa. The young chess prodigy, born in India in 2015, has already won the World Under-8 Rapid championship in 2022 and gained attention from renowned figures like Anish Giri. Despite no family chess tradition, Ashwath's dedication, practicing seven hours daily, brings him success.
