The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR against former Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra in the cash-for-query case. The action follows directions from the anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal, prompted by allegations made by BJP Lok Sabha member Nishikant Dubey. Moitra's expulsion from the Lok Sabha in December for "unethical conduct" preceded this development. The Lokpal has instructed the CBI to complete its investigation within six months and submit findings. Moitra's involvement in the matter will be thoroughly probed by the investigative agency, as mandated by the directives.
