The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of above-normal temperatures gripping the nation in April and May, with heatwave conditions anticipated in various regions. Senior scientist Dr. Naresh Kumar cautioned that while it's premature to predict the severity, temperatures are expected to soar, particularly in central and northwest India. Currently, abnormal temperatures prevail in northwestern regions due to Western disturbances. Despite brief relief from light rain, heatwave conditions are forecasted to persist in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh. The nation braces for an intense summer, with measures urged to mitigate heat-related risks.
