An investigation reveals that since 2014, 25 opposition leaders under corruption probes shifted allegiance to the BJP, with most receiving legal relief. The switch, spanning various parties including Congress, NCP, and TMC, saw three cases closed and 20 stalled, prompting accusations of political influence over legal proceedings. This phenomenon contrasts sharply with investigations against opposition figures post-2014, where 95% faced legal action. Described as a "washing machine," the mechanism allegedly shields corrupt politicians upon joining the ruling party, with Maharashtra under significant scrutiny in recent years.
