The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave alert for Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Puducherry, with temperatures expected to soar over the next few days. IMD Director Manorama Mohanty reported temperatures exceeding 41 degrees Celsius in multiple cities, with coastal humidity levels ranging from 40% to 80%. Severe heatwave warnings are in place for Odisha until April 19 and West Bengal until April 21. Additionally, rainfall is forecasted for Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, offering some respite from the scorching heat.
