The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heatwave alerts for several states, including Odisha and West Bengal, amid scorching temperatures. Parts of Odisha experienced a severe heatwave, with temperatures reaching 45.2°C. West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh also faced intense heat, with temperatures exceeding 44°C. In Bihar, the district administration adjusted school timings due to soaring temperatures, while Uttar Pradesh witnessed temperatures above 40°C. IMD predicts an increase in heatwave days in April, with certain regions facing over 20 days of scorching conditions, posing concerns during the ongoing general elections.
