Tamil Nadu ramps up efforts to save elephants from train accidents with AI surveillance. In a decade, 36 elephant deaths occurred, 11 near Madukkarai, a critical migration path. Responding to a court directive, the forest department erects 12 AI towers along these tracks. Equipped with advanced cameras similar to those used by the Indian Army, these towers can detect humans near the rails. Project manager Ashish Rajput emphasizes the system's effectiveness in addressing the issue. This move signals a proactive approach to protecting both elephants and railway users, aiming to reduce fatalities and ensure safer coexistence between wildlife and infrastructure.
