Russia has deployed its Iskander missile system in Kaliningrad, close to Poland’s border. Reports say the missile can strike Warsaw, Poland’s capital, in just 3 minutes. This comes hours after Russia was accused of invading Polish airspace. The Iskander-M is a short-range ballistic missile, often called one of Russia’s most dangerous weapons. Its placement so close to a NATO country has raised fresh security fears in Europe. Analysts warn the move could sharply increase tensions in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. NATO leaders are expected to meet and discuss possible responses to this growing military threat.

Romania reported that a Russian drone entered its airspace on Saturday, the second NATO country to face such an incident this week. The defence ministry said two F-16 jets detected the drone near the village of Chilia Veche while monitoring Russian strikes on Ukraine. The drone later disappeared from radar and posed no direct threat. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the move was “an obvious expansion of the war.” The EU called it an “unacceptable breach” of sovereignty. Earlier, Poland said it shot down Russian drones. NATO allies have raised air defence readiness as tensions with Moscow increase. (PC: EPA)

Albania has appointed Diella, an AI-powered assistant, as a cabinet minister overseeing public procurement to eliminate government corruption. Named after the Albanian word for "sun," Diella has served as the digital face of e-Albania since January, guiding citizens through 95% of government services via voice commands on the state's online portal. Prime Minister Edi Rama promoted the AI from its role helping Albanians navigate bureaucratic tasks like paperwork and applications without visiting government offices. This unprecedented appointment marks Albania's bold experiment in using artificial intelligence to combat corruption in government tenders, making Diella possibly the world's first AI cabinet minister with specific anti-corruption responsibilities in public procurement processes.
