Ajay Kapoor, Congress national secretary and three-time MLA from Kanpur, joined BJP, citing a "rebirth" and praising Prime Minister Modi's leadership. Kapoor, serving Congress for over 35 years, expressed his decision at a press conference with senior BJP leaders. He emphasized joining Modi's "family" for national progress and submitted his resignation to Congress President Kharge. Haryana's new Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is set to secure the majority in a special assembly session after the BJP-JJP alliance breaks, prompting a trust vote. Saini, sworn in after Manohar Lal Khattar's surprise resignation, claims the support of 48 MLAs. The alliance dissolution, attributed to seat-sharing disputes for upcoming polls, sets the stage for a critical political shift. After intense negotiations, the Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra, comprising BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, reached an agreement on seat allocation. Ajit Pawar's NCP will contest four seats, including Baramati, Raigarh, Shirur, and Parbhani. The decision marks a significant development in the alliance's efforts to finalize their electoral strategy. Notably, Baramati, a long-held bastion of the Pawar family, will witness an intriguing contest between Supriya Sule and Sunetra Pawar. Nayab Singh Saini is now Haryana's new Chief Minister, succeeding Manohar Lal Khattar. Five ministers, including BJP MLAs Banwari Lal and Jai Parkash Dalal, took oath with him. Former Home Minister Anil Vij was absent. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Saini, expressing hopes for Haryana's progress. Saini, a representative of the OBC community, took over amid strains in the BJP-JJP alliance. He thanked Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Biplab Deb, and Khattar. Saini had become Haryana BJP's state president in October.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the Congress for opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), attributing it to "appeasement and vote-bank politics." Shah's remarks follow the implementation of the law by the Centre, over four years after its passage in Parliament. He lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for granting citizenship to persecuted non-Muslim migrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. The BJP in Karnataka has reportedly approached Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, scion of the Mysuru royal family, to contest from the Kodagu-Mysuru Lok Sabha constituency. Senior leaders have initiated discussions, but the final decision rests with Rajmata Pramoda Devi Wadiyar. The move comes amid scrutiny of incumbent MP Pratap Simha.
