Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) has filed an FIR with the Delhi Police against 63 social media handles for allegedly sharing misleading and factually incorrect posts about waterlogging at Indira Gandhi International Airport. The action follows heavy rainfall on September 4, when temporary water accumulation occurred at the Terminal 3 arrival forecourt. DIAL said the water was cleared within 20 minutes and airport operations were not affected. The operator also flagged an old video of waterlogging at Dubai Airport that was falsely presented as footage from Delhi. A labour contractor arrested in the Delhi PG collapse case told police that around three truckloads of debris were moved into the building’s basement during renovation work days before the tragedy. Contractor Sanoj Kumar, 35, also said a wall on the ground floor was removed on the day of the collapse to create space for a shop. Police said the building could not bear the load and collapsed, killing seven people, including five students and two labourers. Kumar said building owner Mahesh Gupta hired him about 10 days earlier. Three accused, including the owner, contractor and PG operator, were granted two days’ police custody. (PC: HT)

Manipuri musician Chongtham Vikram Singh, 55, died in Delhi on Monday after he was allegedly assaulted by a group of men outside his home in southeast Delhi’s Kilokari. Police and family members said Singh had gone downstairs after objecting to noise near his residence. He was taken to Holy Family Hospital, where he later died from haemorrhagic shock caused by blunt force trauma. The case has renewed concerns over crimes against people from the Northeast. Between 2014 and April 13, 2026, Delhi recorded 2,656 FIRs involving such crimes, but only 33 cases resulted in convictions, a rate of 1.82%.

A slab of an under-construction building collapsed in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar on Wednesday, leaving more than 10 workers feared trapped under the debris, police said. The collapse occurred in the Kudasan area, where rescue operations were launched by teams from the fire department. Five injured workers have been rescued and taken to a hospital for treatment, officials said. Gandhinagar Fire Officer Rajesh Patel said teams were working at the site and further details were awaited. The Red Fort blast was a suicide bombing carried out by Umar Un Nabi, who allegedly detonated an IED inside his i20 car, killing 15 people, the NIA said in its chargesheet. DNA evidence confirmed Nabi was inside the vehicle when it exploded on November 10. The 7,500-page chargesheet describes a nearly two-year conspiracy to revive the Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind module, with the Red Fort allegedly chosen as a “symbol of the Indian state”. Major Navya Shekhawat has made history by becoming the first woman officer from the Indian Army to serve as Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.
